Rant # 6:The pot calling the kettle black
I was checkin' out an online comic series starring an all star cast of Godzilla collectibles today. The creator is a very funny man. But I noticed something about his comics. He uses the phrase: sweet monkey Jesus quite often. I, being a Christian, am offended by this.
I started thinking of how Family Guy constantly makes God and his Son, Jesus, the butt of many o' joke. Everywhere I go, people are offensive and rebelious toward God. I figure that these people must know they're upsetting somebody somewhere and just don't care. Yet, they justify it as "just a joke," and some how that is suppose to make what they're doing all right. Since it's just a joke, then they don't have to be concerned about the feeling of their Christian neighbors. However, let a Christian stnad publiclly for whats right, and those same blasphemers get bent out of shape. Suddenly, feelings are very important to them. A group of kids gather around a flag pole to pray for their school and the God-haters demand that the kids be expelled, then proceed to write their congressman with the tired old line: Separation Of Church and State (which to my knkowledge was concerning the state CONTROLING the church, not the citizens public worship). The kids of the same parents that demand seperation of church and state are cursing and using God's name in profanity and it's overlooked.
They don't mind offending Christians with their blaitant rebellion, but don't want to be offended by a Christian's public position on right and wrong.
Did you know that the Roman Empire fell from within? Ultimately, it was the morale decay of it's citizens and their rampant disregard for decency that brought it down. America has been likened to the Roma Empire because of it's strength and independance. And just as Rome, we too are moraly deficient and foolishly rebellious against God. It won't be G.W. Bush that will bring this country to it's knees, it will be it's citizens.
So keep doing whatever you want, foolishly daring God to do something about it. Mock a Christian and accuse him or her of being a fanatic everytime you offend. Go ahead and get all bent out of shape everytime you hear a Christian make a Biblical reference that offends you (because you can't argue it's truth and wisdom). In the end, you'll have no one to blame but yourself.
Amended @ 1630: I want to say note that I do realize that not all those who do not follow the Christian Faith are guilty of what I went on a rant about. And I well aware that there are some so-called-christians who are very quick to point the finger and judge. However, what I concluded my rant with was not my judgement. It was my conclusion based on what I see in America today and the extremely LIMIED knowledge history that I posses. I don't hate those who aren't Christians, and it wasn't too long ago when I didn't follow Christ. And still I have a lot of growing to do. I'm not perfect by any means.
Notwithstanding (hope I used that word right) I believe the Bible and take it seriously. From the examples I learned from the nation of Isreal (from the Bible), from history, and fromwhat i see going on around us, I can see that America is headed for a serious time-out from God, not because the earth isn't loaded with Christians, there are those that don't follow Christ that have outstanding morales, but because of our morale defiecencies as a nation.

Just after posting this rant, my co-worker read to me a news article from the web about a (so called) christian pastor who was arrested for kidnapping a 14 yr. old girl, making her a slave, and trying to force her to act as his wife. During his trial he was thrown out of the court room for disrupting the court proceedings. Can you guess how? If you said by obnoxiously reciting verses from the Bible as loudly as he could, you win. This is read to me just after posting this rant. No wonder people don't want to have anything to do with Christianity, when nut-jobs like that try to use the Bible to justify their sins. And yet, I too feel some what ashamed of the rant I posted. Don't get me wrong, I ment every word. But actions such as the hypocrate reverand and my anger fueled post do nothing for a person's desire to seek a relationship with Christ.
Therefore, I'd like to apologize for the rant, not because it wasn't true, for that is after all my opinion based on what I've read from the bible, but because it doesn't demonstrate love, which is what Christianity is founded on. Thus, it was un-necessary. Forgive me. You all are entitled to your own opinions. That's what makes this country so great. As the creator of a web comic staring Godzilla colectibles said in one of his comics - the same creator that I all but slammed in my original rant - "I don't agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
Sorry, everybody. I wasn't exactly acting on the directions of God when I wrote the rant.
I would like to say that the pastor I mentioned is not a representative of God. Neither is the guy who walks around condemning everybody to hell and never really talking to any about Jesus or inviting anyone to the church they attend. A Christian may not be perfect, but they certainly don't pull that garbage. I'm not judging. It's just fact. To be honest, I have to work hard daily and depend on the strength of the Lord to keep from doing those things (though it's not hard to avoid kidnapping female minors for my own sick perversions). Just keep in mind that the "so called christians" are getting more attention than those true Christians who share the good news of the gospel out of the love in their hearts for Jesus and for our souls.
'Til next time, as you were.
